Why it matters
A building is a sequence and a vault.
Recall complex data with precise order.
A fixed path keeps information in sequence.
Stored in memory, never written down.

Choose Location

  • Select a place you visualize clearly.
  • Pick somewhere familiar and rich in detail.
  • Favor spaces you know better than anyone.
  • More vivid detail means stronger links.

Set the Route

  • Pick a consistent path through the space.
  • Always follow the same order.
  • Walk the route in real life first.
  • Observe and memorize each turn.

Assign Data

  • Link each item to a specific location.
  • Place one piece at each stop.
  • Keep loci spaced along the route.
  • Match the data to the place naturally.

Make It Vivid

  • Build absurd, exaggerated mental images.
  • Charge each image with strong emotion.
  • Make the picture impossible to ignore.
  • Stronger images survive longer in recall.

Recall in Order

  • Walk the route in your mind.
  • Observe each locus as you pass.
  • Extract the information stop by stop.
  • Trust the path to surface every item.

Tradecraft Rules

  • Never write the contents down.
  • Rotate routes and use multiple locations.
  • Limit each route to five to ten items.
  • Rehearse daily until recall is instant.
